The Project
The Baggs Mule Deer Study was started in 2015 by wildlife biologist, Tony Mong (Wyoming Game and Fish Department), to track and understand the migratory behaviors of buck mule deer in south-central Wyoming (learn more here). Mule deer in the area rely heavily on the ability to move freely over great distances (some deer in the area migrate up to over 100 miles)! Roads, developments, and fences are some of the major barriers to the migrations of mule deer.

The Fence Conversion Project is a chance to come together as a community to improve wildlife habitat and connectivity of migratory corridors. We will remove an old barbed-wire fence that lies in the path of migrating deer and elk, and we will replace it with a wildlife-friendly fence, More details on wildlife-friendly fencing can be found here.

Please join us for a weekend of fun and hard work! We hope you will join us in this effort to help Wyoming's Wildlife!
